We are excited to announce that the Hughes and Stanley Democratic parties will be hosting a Town Hall featuring candidates Dan Ahlers (D – Governor), Nikki Gronli (D – US Representative), and Terrence Davis (D- Secretary of State) on October 17, 2026, at Drifters Event Center.

The town hall is a non-partisan event that will include a candidate meet and greet followed by an open forum where voters can ask the candidates questions on their platforms. Doors open at 3:30 with an opportunity to meet and speak with the candidates one-on-one. Around 4:15, the candidates will talk about their platforms and campaigns. As soon as candidates have each had the opportunity to speak, we will transition into the open forum where they will take questions.

Directly following the conclusion of the town hall (roughly 6 PM), the Hughes and Stanley County Democrats will be hosting a social hour with catering by Drifters and a cash bar. The social hour will run from 6 – 8 pm. The candidates have been invited and are planning to attend the social hour as well.

In order to accurately calculate catering needs, Social Hour tickets are available for purchase at $25 a seat. Ticket sale proceeds will go directly to covering the cost of the venue and event. Any funds received above and beyond the cost of the event will be split between the Hughes and Stanley county parties. Please reach out to me directly if you or your organization would like to sponsor/purchase a table to discuss ticket prices.

We will be asking for volunteers in the following days to help make this event a success. The social hour is open to anyone who would like to purchase a ticket, and we look forward to sharing the evening with individuals who are committed to a better future for South Dakota.
